Doombap, as a collective, can be nothing more than formidable. With influences that span generations and genres, and individual decades of experience, there isn’t much doubt about it’s direction; forward.

However, with every great movement, there comes a beginning. That beginning was in 2019. Co-founders, Days and Jesus Crise, after having entertained the idea of another collective, brought the circle of Doombap to life.

Advancing ahead to March 2020, Doombap was offered a residency and concert at La Clef, in Saint Germain En Laye. Along with the help of multi-talented rapper/producer and fellow Doombap member, Davu, Doombap put together a fiery set within only two days of residence. The first official performance was opening for French group, Chromatix.

The concert proved to be a shining moment and a great evening for all the attendees, but as in life, challenges are inevitable on the long road to success. Shortly afterwards, global confinement would arrive, stifling the momentum of the world and casting a shadowy uncertainty on humanity.

Obstacles were made to be overcome.

  Doombap is serious, it’s fun, and equally, it is seriously fun to see live. No matter what combination of players or setting, the audience is guaranteed a wild ride, rooted in professionalism, imagination, and a signature authenticity. Days

Days is a veteran wordsmith, who has clutched his craft closely since 1987. He has held many names (most notably as RacecaR), many styles, and many microphones while rocking crowds starting in the 1990’s. From representing well at some of Chicago’s premier Hip-Hop open mics and venues, to traveling nationwide (now worldwide) touring with his peers and, at times, building with legendary Hip-Hop figures, Days continues to mold his craft and live show, while maintaining his originality and humanity; sharing positivity with his audiences, fellow artists, and fans.

JESUS CRISE

Jesus Crise is a world class DJ, grossly underrated producer, expert beatmaker, and a veritable library of musical knowledge. His career has led him from working with several notable live bands (General Dub and Versus, just for examples) to now, bringing his signature sounds to life daily in his laboratory. His catalog is deep, varied, and seasoned. He has never hesitated to push the limits of sound. His music is inspiring, heartfelt, and head-nodding, all at the same time. JOSTEREO

Jostereo is a gifted individual. His sound and direction have only seemed to become more and more pointed each year. He was fortunate and Free-thinking enough to learn from some of the best in the art. Note Thavius Beck and Riddlore(CVE), both West Coast legends in their own rites, as a starting point. Add Chicago producer and label-owner Radius and Giovanni Marks, West Coast legendary lyricist to the long list, as well. Jostereo has a special power which transforms the simplest of notions, into the grandest gesture you ever did see.

Jostereo’s brand of “simple complexity,” is always present. A small idea transforms into a grand story and a most honest adventure; in a way you might never have thought of before.

Simple hands that bring you both, a new height of subtlety, and a grandest length of refinement. His tracks are always new ideas of what taste can be, and what music must sound like. Spiritual, sonic, and saturating are the closest adjectives one can arrive at, until further and repeated listens. LIVING ROOM SOUNDSYSTEM (LRS IS JOSTEREO AND DAYS)

The Livingroom Soundsystem (or LRS, for short) is Jostereo and Days. A chance meeting after one of Days’ first concerts, after arriving in Paris for the first time, would lead to conversation and soon after, a joining of forces. They connected instantly; as if they had known each other for decades. The chemistry came casually, yet convincingly natural.
After their initial collaboration (on Jostereo’s Weekend in Praha), they both found a satisfying musical direction, and mutual admiration for each other’s respective skills. LRS is moody and minimal. It is not as much a chase to find the beat, as it is a force that compels the beat to follow them through unchartered waves (wavs). D-OS (DAYS PLUS TOS EQUALS D-OS)

Dos is the highly unlikely yet probable, meeting of dj, producer, and turntablist, Mr. Tos, and wandering lyricist and Hip-Hop culture preservationist, Days.

They are two uncommon musicians, who share a common passion for both the vintage and the eclectic.
Heavily based in old school sounds (married with new school ideals), they manipulate those tried and true ideas into something new and unheard; that you should be able to dance to, but will definitely feel in your head and in your heart. Their mutual love of music can be felt immediately, and witnessed live without filter.

D-os began as a chance meeting of the minds after having worked together in support of another project, The Waxidermist. D-os’ freshman release, “A Defense of Winterfell” was curiously and stunningly, not much more than the result of a conversation about varied musical influences, and a dare to make a project that would reflect that mutual admiration for using obvious sample sources. LORDSS87 (ARE JESUS CRISE, JOSTEREO, AND DAYS aka THE ORDER OF THE OUTRO) – THE SUN KEEPS ON RISING, WHILE WE ALL KEEP ON DYING

Once upon a lifetime, 3 kings traveled the earth and, by chance, crossed paths in the Kingdom of lights and cheese. Not to mention the wine, but that’s an entirely different story!
At this time, wars became silent, and there was PASDEBRUIT.
Since life was so quiet and they had some time to think, they spoke amongst each other to reveal what they had brought along with them.
The three kings had all come bearing gifts from afar. The First brought along a bottle of BLANCHE.
The Second carried a jar of BOURGOGNE PIMENTEE.
The Third had a BROUETTE in his possession. .
Since the Third had studied years of intensive SHAOLIN STYLE, he offered to carry the other two.
Off to the lands of CSERBE and CaSeSAVE they traveled while following the sun. (Theme music for journey: SKIT 2)
There they each re-discovered the wonders of the miracle plant called KIMCHIB.
The First and Second voted for a session, so they stopped by the side of the road and sessioned. Of course, the Third agreed, and what a fine session it was!
“JEFINISDEROULERCA!” exclaimed the Second. They each partook and then unanimously decided the plant was better than they had remembered in a long time. (Theme music for session : SKIT NOIRE 77)
The next art of the journey would prove treacherous, but armed with a magical VENTOUSE and a magical PORTE CLEF, they were eventually triumphant and reached their next destination.
“OK, so what do we do now?,” asked the Third. The First and Second simultaneously replied, “AUCUNEIDEE!”
The brothers-in-sounds burst into an up roaring laughter, as they smiled and continued on. Just ahead lie the unopened gates of OUTRO.
