I am not concrete on many of the details in this dark Side-chapter of our culture, but right is right and wrong is wrong regardless. I’m not posting this to sensationalise or seed some hype. I regard this as a human matter, moreso than a reflection on our culture. I’m not even okay with the way women have been portrayed or how their sexuality has been used in the industry. I am not a businessman, I am a culture man. You can make up your own opinion about it, but it’s not (and never will be) a good look for anyone.
Pertaining to the culture, this is an individual responsible for these actions, much like the story of Afrika Bambaata. Let’s not let this blemish our evolution as a culture, and more importantly as humans. Neither let us degrade those individuals nor take away from some of the contributions they made to change Hip-Hop.
There are no perfect people on this earth but we can learn from the past and strive to do better. That is one of our responsibilities while here in this life. Let’s try and be more responsible because no matter where you are, you are part of this story.
